New visa application charges from 1 July 2023

From July 1, 2023, new visa application charges will apply to all visa applications received by the Department on or after that date.

For online applications:

  • If you start your application before July 1, 2023, but submit it on or after that date, you will pay the new visa application charge (VAC).
  • Your application is considered submitted when it is received by the Department, along with the VAC.
  • If you pay by credit or debit card, PayPal, or UnionPay, your application and VAC will generally be received on the same day.
  • Make sure your application includes all required documents before submitting it. If your application is incomplete, you may need to submit a new application and pay the relevant VAC.

For online applications during systems maintenance:

  • Online services, including ImmiAccount, may not be available between 8:30pm (AEST) on June 30, 2023 and 12:30pm (AEST) on July 1, 2023 due to systems maintenance.
  • If you submit your application during this time, the Department may not be able to receive it until after 12:30pm (AEST) on July 1, 2023.
  • In this case, you will pay the new VAC, even if you started your application before July 1, 2023.
  • The Department does not have discretion to alter or waive charges in this situation.

Please note: The website will be updated to reflect the new visa application charges for each individual visa type. In the meantime, you can use the Visa Pricing Estimator to determine the new VAC for your visa application.
